The Healing: Hospice Etude in C Minor
The score sheets

Composer Notes
Due to a recent accident, the composer had received care at a hospice at the outskirt of the Lake District. Surrounded by the moorland, she received timely supports and underwent smooth recovery. Deprived of space to practice piano for a few weeks, the composer was overjoyed discovering a wooden upright piano that carries decades of vintage in the communal area of the hospital towards her discharge. This piano was donated by a local charity to advance healing arts. The composer made this tune at this public piano, and she found that regular piano practicing carries a healing purpose per se.
This music runs with an étude yet forceful style, which also expresses the composer’s eager to return to her usual state of work and life. It is written in C Minor key to deliver a degree of sadness and darkness in the emotions in the movements of the music. The fast-paced marches throughout this piece of music represent the intense emergency rescuing works carried out every minutes by the keyworkers at hospitals. The composer dedicates this song as a tribute to their diligence.
